The public garden is a large roadside garden located on HWY 280 about 1 mile east of Plains. The garden focuses on native milkweeds, coreposis and swamp sunflowers. The garden also includes shasta daisies, black-eyed susans, yarrow, baptisa, lantana, butterfly bushes, foxglove, hot lip salvia, blue salvia, frog fruit, and beautyberry. A large outline of a butterfly is filled with seasonal flowers is located in front of the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail sign.
