What type of BUTTERFLIES are you trying to attract?

Principally Monarchs & Swallowtails, but we have a wide variety of pollinator friendly plants with a continuity of blooms from early spring through late fall therefore we successfully attract a wide variety of butterflies. Additionally, we have Monarch & Swallowtail host plants.

What NECTAR and HOST plants are in your garden?

Nectar: Coneflowers, stokes asters, milkweed, butterfly weed, coreopsis, Guara, beebalm, blanket flower, baptisia, Joe Pye weed, Chaste Tree, Solidago, yarrow, verbena, black-eyed susans, turtlehead, Amsonia, Agastache. Penstemon, seasonal annual color (zinnias in summer)
Host: Milkweed, butterfly weed, fennel, parsley
Designed, installed & maintained by the Walton County Master Gardeners. Installed in 2020 garden is approximately 410 sq. ft., located in Friendship Park which is in downtown Social Circle & is very accessible to the community. Monach Watch certified. Garden includes decor, bird feeder, bee motel, literature box with literature on importance of sustaining our pollinator populations. Also, a garden map of the plants. Most plants are also labeled, common & botanical name. We hosted the Great SE Pollinator Census the past 2 years at this garden.
