President, Lazy K Nursery
Mr. Koone is the largest grower of native azaleas in the United States and also is a landscape designer for some very well-known gardens. Among his clients are Gibbs Garden, Calloway Gardens, and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. He is the president of Lazy K Nursery, Inc. at Pine Mountain, Georgia and is a well-known Horticultural speaker throughout the south. He has introduced many new selections of azaleas.
In 2016, Mr. Koone was a featured speaker at the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail Spring Symposium. The Rosalynn Carter Native Azalea was unveiled at this symposium with Mrs. Carter being presented with plants for her butterfly garden at her home in Plains.
