What type of BUTTERFLIES are you trying to attract?

I hope to attract and support Monarches and swallowtail butterflies. The monarch caterpillars have been eating the milkweed for a few years in my garden and now cardinal flowers have bloomed two years in a row so I’m optimistic they’ll come back. We’ve been seeing swallowtail in our yard so I’d like to support more of them. We have black cherry trees that I’ve read the like but I understand they need parsley so I’ll plant that next year.

What NECTAR and HOST plants are in your garden?

Milkweed, Yarrow, Cardinal flower, dill, joe pye weed and more natives every year. This year we were lucky that queen Anne’s lace come up with other natives. I plan to add butterfly weed next year and parsley as well.
